STUDENT’S JOINING INFORMATION FOR ADMISSION LEADING TO AWARD OF A DIPLOMA IN AGRICULTURE PRODUCTION AND HORTICULTURE
1. INTRODUCTION:
Borigaram Agriculture Technical College is a private agriculture Technical College owned by the Friends on the Path under the trustee of the Jogye order of Korean Buddhism. The College has been granted full registration by the National Council for Technical Education with Registration Number REG/SAT/028.
It was officially established in 2016 after the inauguration ceremony done by the Most Venerable President Jaseung of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism on the 5th September, 2016.
The College has been mandated to deliver programmes in Horticulture and Agriculture production disciplines leading to the Natinal Technical Award (NTA) of a Diploma in Horticulture, Diploma in Agriculture Production and short course for the farmers and youth surrounding the College and beyond depending on need.
2. LOCATION:
The College sits on plot 1 block V with 27 acres of land which is surveyed. To visit the College one has to take a ferry to Kigamboni and drive to Kibada, and choose the way leading to
Chekeni – Mwasonga Kisarawe II.
3. COURSES OFFERED AND DURATION:
The College offers a one year (upgrading in Agriculture Production) two year (Diploma in Horticulture) and three years Diploma courses leading to the National Technical award of Diploma in Agriculture Production or Diploma in Horticulture.
4. ENTRY QUALIFICATION:
The candidate required for this course should have a certificate of Secondary Education with at least two (2) passes at D level in science subjects (Mathematic, Physics, Biology, Chemistry Geography and Agriculture.) Also, candidate required for diploma (NTA level V and VI) in horticulture should possess form six certificate with at least 1 principal pass and 1 subsidiary in science subjects. In addition, candidate for upgrading course should have NTA level 5 certificate of related field from any recognized Agriculture institution.
5. FINANCIAL REQUIREMENT:
5.1 Fees Structure:
The total cost paid to the college is Tsh.1,095,000/= for 1st academic year (NTA level IV) and 1,165,000/= for 2nd and 3rd academic year (NTA level 5 and 6). As shown in table I.

5.2. Direct Cost to Be Paid by Guardian/Parent to students:
Cost for Field attachment should be paid directly by guardian/ parent to the students for field practical attachment. The amount is variable depending on location where the student will be doing the field practical. The amount of Tsh.100,000/= indicated on the table above is only for office use to cover field preparation, arrangement and follow ups. Duration for field practical is 8 weeks.
6. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
6.1. Registration:
During registration each candidate must provide the following
· Four colored passport size photographs
· Academic certificate
· Birth certificate
· Bank pay in slip
· A pair of Gumboots 1
· Overcoat (white) 1
· Overall (blue) 1
· Two reams (2) of duplicating papers (A4 size to be provided each year)
· Hoe with handle
· Panga
· Slasher
· Sports gear (2 bukta, 2 Tshirts)
· Secateurs
· Budding knife
· Water buckets 2 –(ten/twenty litres)
6.2. Accommodation:
The College provides a room with four cupboards, 4 reading tables and chairs, bed and mattress. Others like bed sheet, pillow, blanket, mosquito net is under the responsibility of the students.
6.3. Stationery:
Each student is required to bring stationery such as exercise books, pens, pencil, rubber, ruler and scientific calculator for their own use.
6.4. Books:
Students are required to buy relevant text books which are not available in the College Library.
7. MEDICAL EXAMINATION:
Each student is required to submit a satisfactory medical Examination Report form a recognized Hospital, dully filled, signed and stamped by a qualified Licensed or Registered Medical officer.
8. DISCIPLINE:
Every student should demonstrate good behavior and maintain self-respect in accordance with the rules and regulations of the College. It is the responsibility of the student to maintain self – discipline and respect others.
9. SERIOUSNESS IN STUDIES:
In order to graduate you will need to pass all examinations which include continuous assessment tests and end of semester examinations. Students are advised to familiarize themselves with examination guidelines and rules.
10. EARLY MORNING AND LATE EVENING PRACTICAL:
In accordance with the Ministerial and College guidelines and rules, each student is required to participate in early morning and late evening practicals, which are assessed.
11. HEALTH CARE:
A sense of good health is mandatory to all students. General cleanliness and personal hygiene is a must.
12. MEDICAL CARE:
Medical services are available at nearby dispensary. According to Government directives, staff and students are required to have medical insurance through the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). Thus, the parents should make the necessary arrangements to have their daughters and sons registered with NHIF.
13. EDUCATION FOR SELF – RELIANCE:
In accordance with the College objectives every student is required to participate in various production activities including general cleanliness in dormitories and the College compound.
14. OPENING DATE:
The opening date for 1st semester, academic year 2019/2020 will be 15th of October, 2019. Students who will report to the college later than 15th of November will not be enrolled.
